Past Adventures

I get a lot of questions from my family asking where I was all day when I come home at one in the morning. The answer to that question is never 'I was at a party all night.' Like, legit never. My friends are either at my house, or we're at Scott's house. Or when we're feeling really crazy that night, we'll go to the McDonalds drive thru. And I wish that I was making this up. Only on the nights where we are too lazy to drive from Carpinteria to Santa Barbara (which is what, a 10 minute drive???), we will go to the McDonalds in Carp and stay there for an hour and a half while we look at memes on Twitter.

We drive to random places just to see something different when we get bored of our same old routine.

Our first adventure that Sam, Scott, and I took was just around Santa Barbara. We went to the pier and then we went to the hills of Montecito/Santa Barbara. This was a quick adventure because I had just started school so we didn't leave till around two or three in the afternoon.

Our second adventure was driving around Ojai, which was so beautiful.

We ended up following a truck (not in a creepy way) just to see what was in the mountains of Ojai. We ended up on this strange street with a dog that was chasing cars, the houses were really old, the people were just staring at you as you drove by. The only way that any of us could describe it was a scene out of a horror film right before your car breaks down and you have to run for your god damn life. The road ended up being a dead end, so we had to turn around and went up another hill. (On the bright side, we found this cute packing house.)

While on that hill, we almost ran out of gas and didn't know how close we were to the next gas station, if there even was one. So we went back down the hill, and I don't remember exactly when we found water, but we did. And Sam saw her first frog. (Also we pulled to the side of the road and for some reason, there was a ranch packet that Scott accidentally stepped on and it got all over Sam.)

Around Halloween, we went to the pumpkin patch out in Goleta. We went into the corn maze and got stuck for about 30 minutes. While Scott went to go find her perfect pumpkin, Sam and I decided to go in the corn maze again. That was the biggest mistake of our lives. We were lost for about 20 minutes before we decided to follow these little kids who looked like they knew where they were going. We lost where they went so we kept ending up in dead ends. Then we made friends three other kids around our age, and then lost them. We didn't get out until we found another family to follow out of the maze, which wasn't for about 30 more minutes.

But after the pumpkin patch, we ended up taking a day trip Solvang. We went to the little bookstore there and got some coffee at the coffee shop that was right next door. Also, Scott found her doppelganger.

Our most recent adventure was back to the hills of Ojai. But this time, we completely avoided the serial killer street. We pulled over to the side of the road (same place where Sam got ranch all over herself) to this rock that had writing all over it. Most of the writing was Fuck Trump or follow _____ on Instagram. Clear priorities Americans have.

We drove for about 20 minutes after we got there and somehow ended up in Maricopa. Luckily when we stopped on the side of the road again, we all had cell service (because the entire time we were driving, we had no bars). We could have driven 35 minutes longer to get to Taft, or we could have turned around to head back home. The sun was just about to go down so we decided to turn around. But it was so pretty where we stopped that we had to stay for a while and take photos.

(This is my favorite photo of Sammy I have)

For those of you who just scrolled through the page just to look at the photos, here's a video of our adventures for all you lazy people who don't want to read.
